I heard the theatrical qualities of listening to it as a play enchance the deep-rooted gayness of the piece as well.

I agree "Lupo." This guy has the most superficial understanding of this rich work. Socrates dispels the poetic and grandiose notion of love to see it as the true yearning that it is. It is so important particularly in this age when we think the yearning love as the final product instead of a means to obtain happiness. Happiness according to the character Socrates is coming as close to immortality as is humanly possible in reproduction and ideas

my gosh, are you dumb. a "nice play" and not "too much philosophical content". you clearly misunderstood the whole thing. maybe you should listen and interpret plato' jabbering a bit more carefully from now on instead of listening to it while flipping through a magazine. also, since you apparently have no clue whatsoever, why dont you stop polluting the internet with your opinion until you have something valuable to say?
