Mercenary Armies, like that of Blackwater, have recently emerged from the shadows, and now present themselves as a legitimate business. The United States have begun to outsource traditional military roles to these "security contractors" within the past decade. They have been employed by the United States governemnt (sometimes openly and sometimes secretly), but is the role of the mercenary morally acceptable?
What does the Bible say about mercenaries? Who can, and who can not, wage war legally in this world?
Mr. Collier argues from Scripture that only the government has the right to raise an army and engage in defensive warfare (not pre-emptive or offensive warfare).
Why are the pulpits silent on the issue of mercenaries? Do our ministers today not understand the difference between actual soldiers and hired murderers?
