Simplex 4050 Fire Alarm Test

This is a test of the Simplex 4050 Fire Alarm horn. The 4050 is similar to the 4040, but the 4050 has a square diaphragm whereas the 4040's diphragm is round. That gives 4050 a deeper tone than the 4040. The 4050 has more of a burrrr sound, whereas the 4040 has more of a naaaattt sound.

MY HS HAS THE 4040 AND THEY USE CODE 3.

@FEDERALSIGNALTECH They must have a DC-AC converter in between the panel and the horns, but it'll still do the job.

The 4040 is overall a different horn than the 4050, i used to have both before i quit

thats so intresting. i never knew there was a name for when it goes off in 3s... i believe you said temporal. i always figured when my school used that for a tornado drill the pricnipal or someone was setting it off manually. just for my own curiosity, why do they call these horns when they make buzzer noises?
