If people are giving you looks for doing deadlifts and clean and jerks than they probably aren't very knowledgeable about lifting in the first place. Don't mind them.

Man I can already tell if I tried this at 24 hour fitness people would be looking at me like "wtf?". It's rediculous enough I get looks for deadlifts and clean and jerks...

Freaking awesome...had no idea that was possible.
-
yeah try that with your max
-
cool but most gyms will ban you for life if you do this
-
old school... yeah, those were better days for training :)
-
its really for if you dont have a power rack or something to hold the barbell. its just a good method for getting a bar off the ground and onto your shoulders .
-
@lufflanger It's just a way to get the bar on your back for squats without a rack. He didn't do the squats in the video because he's just showing you the technique for getting the bar on his back.

And we don't all have the same lives. A bodybuilder finds the strength he gains from isolation exercises useful because that is the kind of life he lives: one full of those exercises. Leg presses build functional strength for those who do them a lot.
Some bodybuilders train for strength occasionally, and they also gain strength as they build muscle. Just because they don't need strength doesn't mean they don't have it. They're significantly weaker than, say, power lifters, but meh. It happens.

@TheAmazingOti strenght which can and will be applied in real life is functional strenght. DL build functional strenght. Leg presses do not.
Btw: bodybuilders don't need strenght at all. Only muscle volume.
this is very nice. i can see, you are a friend of the old-school-style.

There is a lot we can learn from the masters.

Good lift.
I do mine a little differently. I bend over and shoulder the weight on one shoulder and then let it rock across my shoulders. It's kind of tricky and dangerous. I've been able to do 225lbs. They say Steinborn could do 550 lbs in this lift!!!

thanks, 550 is super crazy, there's a reason it's named after him :)

Good technique. I'd guess you could max with considerably more.
