What is Affiliate Marketing and how would you define it?

As you already know, affiliate marketing is a way to make money online. To start, you'll signup to sell a product or service online. Let's use the 5 star SiteSell affiliate program as an example. What you should to is make a website about something you really love. Like dogs, skiing, cooking, telling jokes. You should pick something you can easily talk about and something that you'll enjoy talking about forever... Because that's how long you want this business to last right? Forever?
4. Multiple ways to make money: Part 1. Sure you can send people off to sites like SiteSell to buy stuff like ebooks and software. But, there's an even easier way to make money from your visitors--And they don't have to buy anything!

I watch videos on keyword research and choosing a niche, but how do you know if the affiliate program offer products related, for example if you base your website around 'how to lose inner thigh weight',(on a video i saw) how do they know they will have products to promote which relate? thanks
