2010 Camaro Hurst Shifter Wobble

UPDATE: APPARENTLY I HAD OVERLY LARGE BUSHINGS. Hurst sent me some new ones and all if fixed.

Hurst sent me some new bushings and it fixed the issue. Apparently I have overly large bushings.

One thing to note- there is an amount of "free-play" or "wobble" in the stock change rod linkage to the transmission. This is OEM components and if you have excess wobble in this area, I would suggest re-installing your stock shifter and taking your vehicle in to the dealer for warranty repair. I have personally never seen any vehicles with problems in this area, however it is a possiblity.

Read the below one first..

The Teflon bushings in the bottom of the shifter may have been damaged during the initial install. This can be checked by removing the clips and pin holding the change rod to the bottom of the shifter. Pop out the Teflon bushings and run the pin through them. There should be a "slip" fit with little to no play in the fitment.

First off, make sure that the bolts holding the upper stick to the lower stick haven't loosened up (this happens occassionally). Make sure they are tight - sometimes a drop of the supplied Loctite on each srew helps. If this doesn't fix your problem, then the next area to check is under the car. If the Hurst shifter has always been this loose, check that the change rod connecting the bottom of the shifter to the transmission is tight.

i have seen two videos on this same problem. i have the exact shifter in my 2010 ss and it works fine little play in it at all. im not sure what the problem is but maybe you installed it wrong, reinstall it and make sure you follow the directions .

I just installed my Hurst two weeks ago. I like it. It's tight and a lot shorter throw and more precise. Make's a little noise under certain conditions which is normal. I had a Hurst Competition Plus in a 1969 GTO and it made the same noise. It's not annoying. So far no complaints. I have a 2010 Camaro II SS.
