@citidelx you just took the words from my mouth, but us united states people are working on a large HSR network

@alx2925 acually its goes up to 180Mph But They Built The Speedometors up to 165

@five0fan Negi - Think you'll find the British win in that category ;)

citidelx, I agree with you 100%.
The USA could have done better. The RR Industry gave up too soon in 1955 after an attempt with the Aerotrain by GM.
And, in 1966 (2 years after the Bullet Train began in Japan) the FRA did begin setting aside Tax Dollars for an American High Speed Rail. Politicians still alive and willing to talk about it, know what happened to that money.
After the TGV began in France 1981, I BELIEVED the USA would be next.
To ALL: See "Tracking The Supertrains".

@ Kazpmk tha Acela is not a true HST I agree with you. The EU and Japan have the best trains.
@ Mrrayco the US has not pioneered in the railroad industry since the peak during the 1950's The US RR system is perhaps the worst for a developed nation. Kazpmk is right the average speed on the Acela is around 85 MPH that is not a HST. I lived in Germany and their trains haul over 180 MPH. The FRA adds weight to the Acela and that weight was the cause of the cracked hulls a few years ago.

The acela actually reaches 150 Mph, but only for 36 miles, but then the rest of the NEC they have a lot of 135 mph stretches
