Nice video! i am after re-cycling an old printer.I have all the hardware inside of the printer and I was thinking to use the motors with a programme via USB. How can i make this possible? Thanx

i want one how much would you charge :D

just the same,
if someone stole from you that RFID tag,
they can easily enter your house without even putting inside inside the keyhole, less effort o.O

I hope the key still works if the AA batteries go flat.

I have mine setup for basic RFID. Picked up a cheap 125khz reader and FOBs on ebay. Setup the reader, ran wires to the Powerbolt open lock switch, stuck the reader at the window. Now I have a simple rfid enabled lock.
I loose the key fob then I can reprogram. Easier than redoing all of the keys to the house. So far nobody has lost a key fob. I can also disable a single key fob if just one gets lost. Try that with a key.
Still easier to pick the lock than copy the rfid! LOL

That would be much easier to run and doesn't require a computer be connected. :) This was mainly a proof of concept and a learning experience for me.

Great Idea with the cell phone. I was thinking of creating something like this to control my home with phidgets since there cheap and easy to use. Did you create a VB App webserver? with a pw login?

It's a c# web app.

It most certainly does :) It manually forces the lock just like a real key. The powerbolt uses a standard locking mechanism, it's just that a motor can drive it in addition to a key.
