Exactly! Doing as this guy dose shouting bravo when the dog chaises the bird is to get your self into trouble. If not its a young dog that is to careful on birds. U have to be ether very a very talented trainer or very stupid, if u dont try to stop your dog at wing.
yeah, thats kind of what training the english setter is all about :) all the instincts are working for us until the bird takes to the air, then the dog usually goes mental and chases. the "solution" is having a thoroughly trained dog that sits on command. and if they chase after even though you've orderd sit you take them back to the place where they started and pinch the ear slightly to mark that its a bad thing to do
I have an English Setter and it is two years old. It's smelling, searching and finding of birds, rabbits etc is quite good. But I am living problems in keeping it still when pointing a hunt. Also it chases an escaping bird or a rabbit, this condition prevents me from shhoting at the hunt due to the risk of wounding my dog. Therefore I would highly appreciate if you could give me some hints for training him.
there is nothing wrong with hunting. as long as it's ethical and the game is eaten. don't make uneducated posts
