It's not barefoot running if you have footwear on your FEET. You hippies are dumb and hypocritical. Go protest the 1 percent or some dumb ignorant anti-capitalist protest that makes you feel better about yourself.

I bought Merel shoes once. It was equivalent to throwing 100 bucks in a toilet. They were arched like a tire distorting the feet. VFF hurt my metatarsals whenever I went further than 12 miles. Then I realized that for barefoot running the best shoes are no shoes. Just don't put anything on your feet! I find the concept of "barefoot shoes" a little hypocritical. It's like "Yeah, I do smoke but I don't inhale". For cold weather or filthy ground get a pair of light running shoes and just ALTERNATE.
