After more than 31 years, practicality caught up with me and I reluctantly parted with my R90, the first vehicle I ever purchased. Still running strong after more than 1/4 million miles, it was nearly new when I got it from an 86 year old friend in 1980. Although I hated to see it go, it struck me as sad to have it tucked away in non-use. I sold it to a friend who rode the bike a few times back in the mid 1980s, sparking a lifelong interest in the brand.

I still ride on my "New" bike, a 1984 BMW R100RT (All original, with less than 50,000).

My hope is that everyone finds a vehicle that causes them to love the journey as much as the destination.

  • @vandalen8848 Any 30 year old vehicle is a bit of a gamble, but in over 30 years of ownership, and armed only with a Clymer's repair manual and a torque wrench, there was never a problem needing a pro mechanic! My NEW Beemer is a 1984 airhead (R100RT).
