This is the first of many video blogs to come about the Disney College Program. My session is for the fall of 2009 in Disneyland California. These vlogs will be very informative. Please leave any questions you have about the program and I will either answer them or put them in my next vlog; also let me know if you would like me to make a vlog about anything specific. (This vlog is in 2 parts) go to disneycollegeprogram.com for more info

  • what is renters insurance? and does it cost a lot of money to do this internship? (cost of living, transportation, buying stuff, etc)

  • @questionmarksmile Renter's insurance is insurance on the place you are renting (your apartment). It is required, so you have to get it before you arrive. most people just get State Farm Insurance. This insurance basically protects your stuff in case something happens, like a fire. So, if you loose your stuff in the fire, they could help replace it.

  • Oh okay

so if i am accepted, will they (disney) let me know the address of the housing area immediately? or do i find out more info after i accept and pay the $836 (first months rent, security deposit, & program assessment fees)?

Btw, when does the fall semester/session begin and is it also for 8 months like the spring semester/session is? Or do they mention all that during the presentation? (i am going next week). Thanks!

  • @questionmarksmile I think the address can be found on the website... The fall session techniquely begins in August. But if you apply for the fall session, you might get the option to arrive early -in May, June, or July. You would just have to make sure you keep up with your e-mails. Disney will send you a lot of e-mails. And before I left for my program in august, I double checked my email and found like 10 emails that i never even opened

  • @questionmarksmile At first, it can take a good amount of money. You have to make the first month's rent upon acceptance to the program, you have to get renter's insurance (which isn't a lot of money tho), you have to have a $200 damage deposit for the apartment, you need money to get there and to get your stuff there, and to do your first grocery shopping, at least. After that, you are covered by the money you earn from working. However, you will no have a lot of spending money.

  • Um. If you completely leave the school, I believe that you would have to reapply to your school. However, if you take classes while on the internship, like how I took online classes, then you'll be fine. Or, if you are actually getting credit by your school for the internship, then you will still be considered as going to your school. Either way, you should let your advisor know that you would be going on an internship.

  • If someone were to do this program and then wanted to go back to their previous school , would the school tell you whether or not they accept you back

  • No. no. But for two of the classes you can get college credit for. When you go, you'd have to see if your school accepts them, and if not then you can earn the credits through another school (Disney will tell you what college you can do that with). Otherwise, the classes are to learn more about Disney and how to move up in the company (or any other company for that matter).

  • oh okay but this isnt like a college college right were they have all the classes Like a cal state

  • At TDA: Team Disney Anaheim. If you are living in the apartments, you will take the bus to Ball Rd. (the stop one before Disney) and you'll walk accross the bridge and turn into TDA. Its a big office building. It is considered backstage at Disneyland. It is techniquely behind Toon Town.
