Screen Australia asked Amy Gebhardt to make a film showing her vision of the Australian summer for YouTube Map My Summer. Her short film 'Into The Sun' explores the interconnectedness between the human spirit and the weather, visualising our innate attraction to the warmth of summer.

Pure genius Amy! Mechanical minds may never understand beauty, pay no heed to those.

Nothing like my idea if an Australian summer. Imo, there is rarely any interconnectedness between average Australians and the weather - the past six months, and the Victoria fires the year before, suggest to me that most Australians try to battle both the weather and nature itself with houses, forecasts, dams and cities. The acknowledgement of the spirit of the land is fading. Australian summer is more about concerts, family events and Christmas shopping these days.

Very beautiful but perhaps a little too much of a Bill Viola meets Park/Autio exercise?
