This video from Linda McClure is the first of three videos that teach you how to make the gum paste that works best with electronic cutters like the Silhouette and the Cricut. She is the inventor of the Creative Designs cake decorating method, using electronic cutters to cut gum paste decorations, and adapted this recipe from one she learned from Rosemary Watson for making gum paste flowers. She is patent pending on the method. Check out her blog at www.creativedesignsforcakes.blogspot.com for more hints, tips, and information on this great method.
Hi Linda! Thanks so much for this great tutorial. I was just wondering if this recipe can be doubled/tripled? I usually like to make a lot and store it so I always have gumpaste ready. Thanks again!

@TheTeju144 use "gel-a-tone" made by "Solar" which is veg gelatin. use in same qty as you would use gelatin in the recipe. shortening is solid vegetable fat like "Crisco". let me know if you need help with anything else.

I am an experienced cake decorator and have been struggling with finding a durable gumpaste that would work well in our electronic cutters. I followed Linda's recipe, advice and also purchased her video and I am completely amazed. We are now able to use our cutter in ways we never could have imagined. I cannot recommend this gumpaste or Linda's videos highly enough. This is a must see for ANY cake decorator.

Linda, I have a quick question: Where do you find the gelatin in the canister instead of the little pouches? I've only been able to find boxes of pouches :-/

Awesome, Linda, thanks. I love making gumpaste flowers, but I seem to be allergic to the packaged product available in craft stores.
