Chapter 174: This Is Our Now (FINALE)

Spotlights lit us up, and respective cheering began. Nick and I caught each others eye as I began to play the opening notes of the song. He gave me a wink as Joe opened his mouth to sing.

Joe: There was time
We packed our dreams away
Livin' in a shell
Hidin' from ourselves
Kevin: There was a time
We were so afraid
We thought we'd reached the end
But baby that was then
We are made of more than our yesterdays

All: This is our now, and we are breathing in the moment
As we look around
We can't believe the love we see
Our fears behind us
Gone are the shadows and doubts
That was then, this is my now

Nick: We had to decide
Were we going to play it safe
Or look somewhere deep inside
Try to turn the tide
And find the strength to take that step of faith
Nicki: And we have the courage like never before (Joe and Nick: Never before)
We've settled for less
Now we're ready for more (Joe and Nick: Ready for more)

(We all cut off, with just a light repeat of noted from me on the paino)

Kevin: This is our now
Joe: And we are breathing in the moment
(We all come back in strongly)
Nick: As we look around we can't believe the love we see
Nicki: Our fears behind us, gone are the shadows and doubts

All: That was then

(We slowed it down, going softer, fading away after we sang the last words)

All: This is our...now

I looked down with tears in my eyes. We had put all we had into that performance. As soon as our music faded away...the whole, entire Grammy crowd was on their feet. I stood with my brothers, and we joined hands at the front of the stage.

We bowed together at the crowd of musical legends. My brothers may not have won the award, but they got to perform with their idol in front of the people that inspire them. I felt the same way.

I ran down the stairs of the stage as we went off air, and ran over to Miley. She looked shocked to see me coming near her.

"I know we've had a rough past, but I want to put it behind us...for good," I told her.

"Really?" she asked, a hopeful edge to her voice. When I nodded, she wrapped her arms around me in a hug. I hugged her back.

When we pulled away, I felt a tap on my back. I turned to see David, smiling hugely at me. I threw my arms around his neck in a tight hug. He kissed my cheek and whispered "I love you" in my ear.

Kevin, Joe, and Nick had an arm around their girlfriends back stage when David and I joined them. We were all smiling, thinking about the amazing night we had just had. This was our time, and we weren't going to give it up.

David let go of me, and my brothers approached me. Kevin pulled me into a hug, followed by Joe, then Nick.

"I love you Sissy," Nick whispered.

"I love you too Bubby...Joejy...Curly Bear," they each smiled at me, and Nick kissed my cheek.

I'm at the best time in my life. I've had a rough past, but my brother's have been there every step of the way. We've had our fights and squabbles, but yet we're still standing together. Sure I get in trouble a lot, but that doesn't faze them. I smiled hugely.

"What?" Nick asked. I didn't say anything, instead I pinched his side. He gave my bottom a quick smack. "Tickle me, spank you."

I guess some things never change when you're the Jonas sister, but you know what?

I'm not complaining.
