"The voice in the head has a life of its own. Most people are at the mercy of that voice; they are possessed by thought, by the mind. And since the mind is conditioned by the past, you are then forced to reenact the past again and again. The...term for this is karma." - Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth

The bit on pheromones I need to cite the documentary What the Bleep do we Know? (http://www.whatthebleep.com/)

As for Karma, I'm not talking out of my ass here, but if I had to cite sources, then they'd be the meditation retreat at the FPMT Root Institute, the meditation retreat at Suan Mokkh, and several books such as I Wonder Why (http://www.kmspks.org/pdf/Wonder.pdf), What the Buddha Taught (http://www.amazon.com/What-Buddha-Taught-Expanded-Dhammapada/dp/0802130313), How to Meditate, and Mindfulness with Breathing (both you can get from Wisdom Publications (http://www.wisdompubs.org/)

  • Hahah! Thanks, you're funny man.

  • Sharon's point, if you watch the video to the end, is that the Tibetans taught her to view the situation in China with compassion and offer assistance without condition, and she felt humbled at her own judgemental approach ("was it karma")- isn't this quite the opposite of the hysterical reaction currently playing out around the world?

  • You're right, true compassion holds no grudges, and does not discriminate between "friends" and "enemies". I've found the Dalai Lama's and many Tibetan's reaction to the earthquake to be very commendable.

  • Please free 1.3 billion Chinese from ppc dectators. Go to stduy about the classic culure and you understanding what does really mean the Karma. I personally study about Karma for my life and that i'm sorry your defination of the Karma is correct.

  • I study karma as well. There are many aspects of karma one could talk about, and it may take more than even a lifetime to fully understand karma and walk the correct and proper karmic path. In 7 minutes of a YouTube video I cannot even hope to fully define what karma is, so I had to talk about just one part of it. Thank you for your comment.

  • wow, you're a bigger bullshit artist than sharon stone.

  • That is the result from hanging around with DL too much. You become anti-China element. DL is not so-called spirial leader but an anti-China politician who breaching around the world and spreading anti-China speeches and use others to gain his political influence rather than doing good things to Chinese people.

  • Dude, you look like a farmer but your English rocks!

  • I think what you call 'habituation' is another word for addiction.

Check out the video, "What the Bleep Do We Know Anyway." There's a section in there that describes what your receptors do - much the same as your ideas.

Sorry to hear you are habituated to angry thoughts - on the other hand what you say shows you have a high degree of compassion as well. It's evident that you are self reflective and intelligent. Well done : )

  • Excellent definition. The karmic process is indeed habitution. The Buddha taught karma (an action) has three results. The first is now, such as the feeling of righteousness when angry. The second is later, such as feeling ashamed from one's anger. The third comes later again, which is the habituation or tendency.

  • 'Sichen??? you joking' I think you should try 'Sichen! you're joking?', corrections should not require corrections!

  • Sichen??? you joking

    Sichuan Province,you idiot

  • If there were massive earthquake in 1981m 1982 or 2001, China would not be able to cover up as west can detect with modern satellite technology. Apparent, there were little casualties even IF there were earthquake. Now Wenchuan earthquake woke up Chinese; they realize that earthquake could be next door.

If your criticism was constructive (if Stone's criticism was constructive), Chinese people would not react so badly. It is the motive issue. OK? Nothing to do with PRC govt.

  • Buddy, study geography. Wenchuan is the earthquake county in Sichuan (NOT sichen) province. Sad, thousands of children died. Most of the collapsed schools were funded not by govts but by charity funds(set up to build cheap schools in poor regions). Now govt need to enforce tougher rules on school buildings. I am not dancing to CCP (not CP) party; you sound like Stone. Do you really care about these children? Or you simply hate China? If it is earlier, do sth, go help these kids. Stop bitching.

  • You apparently can't tell the differance between a county and a region.Sichen is an eartquake zone. This is something the the Chinese government don't dispute, this is also not funny ,hundreds of children dying in shoddy schools built by corrupt CP officals isn't funny. Why don't you just keep dancing to the CP party tune!
