@seanchiarot No, if my door is not locked and you just walk in and steal a bunch of shit, you're still dishonest. Yes, if someone wants to get at you bad enough, they'll find a way. I'm just not sure I get what you're implying... that we SHOULDN'T take encryption and security seriously? I mean, should we just be defeatest and think, "oh well, if they really want to get in they will find a way, so let's just leave the door open."
I have a friend who used to do this. They'd go wardriving and find open networks. Then knock on people's doors and offer to secure their connection for $50. Go in, set up a password on theri wireless router... 15 minutes, $50.
@seanchiarot ahaha of course!!! That's like saying, "while cancer is harder to cure, with enough effort it can and will be cured... it's only a matter of time." haha hacking and encryption is a cat and mouse game. Hackers find a way to crack an encryption algorithm, and programmers further complicate the algorithm.
@krazzyyo2 Sorry to say but it is you that is wrong, while WPA and WPA2 are far superior in there encryption, with enough effort they can and will be cracked... its only a matter of time.
With all the protection in the world IF a hacker wants to get on, HE WILL, people lock there cars & houses, if I want in I'll just simply break your window.
Or do the say to the station and monitor EVERYTHING the did iwth Finance and then ask them how much they think that info s worth, pull the same on them and watch the sotires and view point change
Cheap scare tactics, And well illegal in most countries in under guise of TV show.
Many people chose to leave ther WiFi up as a community share system. Now they wanted everyone scared and fearful. This is why the "Good in People" is gone, everyoine id selfish and hoarders. I would have sought civil action agasint the gentleman and the tv station.
in today's society it's basically not safe to even use wifi at all.. WPA,WPA2,WEP are all very crackable. Best thing is to just run Hard Wire, and no wireless. I mean hell. everyone is running iphones, xbox 360, PS3, etc.. those are targets for a handshake. The cards are cheap to buy, the software is free literally everywhere online. Theirs hundreds of videos just on youtube alone. Best thing is to prob impair the connection to the outside. put router in basement if u must use wifi.
