  • the lame ass music killed this video i feel. with that being said, great footage thanks for posting.

  • You know,I hear all this talk about who is better and who is not.The difference is eras. There are great fighters in every time, but few resonate as much as these guys. Now,it can be argued, the past fellows weren't as adept or well fashioned towards nutrition and sports science, but what they had was heart. To me,the heart of American fighters of yesterday would shit on any so called "boxer" we have now. This is a shout out to every "real" fighter from "yesterday."

  • @ZigZagRunner robinson was nowhere close to his prime at that point. He already had over 130 fights under his belt! This is unheard of today. Nobody fights that much. Robinson was still a very good fighter even way past his prime. So he competed because he needed the money. It is generally considered that jake lamotta is the only man to ever beat him when he was in his prime

  • carmen is a badass

  • was gene fullmer better than robinson? he won more of their fights together but when compared to robinson is relatively unknown. am i missing information?

  • @snoop11080 I've seen what's available for Robinson. Now the next thing is, it's not enough to say Leonard is better. Yet, they then go on to say Robinson is better. Based on what?

From what's available, it's clear Robinson wasn't at that talent level. Whether you can say he would be if we saw his best fights (there is some of him at welter) is doubtful, to me, but you could make that point. By the same token, you can't say he'd be clearly better based on something not seen

  • @TA152H01 judging ray on these videos is like judging roberto duran and never seeing him fight at light weight.

  • @MyKaratekid1 I would say the exact opposite. Leonard wasn't a great fighter after he retired. He fought Hagler when he was way past his prime, fought a paper champ in LaLonde, fought Hearns and Duran way past their primes, etc...

Robinson could still fight the best, not avoid them and hand pick fighters that had a title they never should have had, or were way past their primes.

Pre-retirement, Leonard could and did fight anyone, and in their prime.

  • @TA152H01 a Middleweight Sugar ray leonard would beat a middleweight Sugar ray robinson a welterweight sugar ray robinson would beat a welterweight ray leonard

  • @MyKaratekid1 I know boxing, I don't go by legend. I was surprised at how poor SRR was compared to his legend. Everything I've pointed out is true.

He was good for his time, and was still a great fighter because of his power, good hand speed, solid chin, and toughness. But he'd have been completely outclassed by Ray Leonard before his retirement. They aren't in the same talent league.

LaMotta wouldn't have made it to top 5 in the 1980s.
