I met Jimmy once at Inverness when i was engaged in struggle with mcdermott he was no t happy that i supported th SNP but we were the only opposition to the toris for 50 year Mrs Ewing won the election by 300 votes then 3000 votes supported by Comunists Labour and the ordinary people of tho north east who had never had a common voice before .Tommy and Mable Skinner were the people i kent then ..i think the y are baith in heaven noo alang wae jimmy whether they like it or nae.RAB FRASER

The Jimmy read that I knew was an Atheist, but was quick to quote, and misquote the Bible when it suited him. Jimmy grasped the hour, and in doing so, became famous, he did nothing for the workers that he represented except prolong the inevitable, which was closure, in fact, when the dust settled and the yards closed, he was the only one who came up smelling of roses, He had so many iron in the fire that he, and his family would not go hungry, unlike the men he represented.
