This video demonstrates contact improvisation as practiced by two dancers. Contact improvisation is a contemporary dance form that is based on the sharing of weight, counterbalances, and a rolling point of contact.

  • Excellent demonstration of the form. Probably the best video I've seen for that purpose (seen 20 or so). Lovely dancing, great music. I'm watching it over again today!

  • Thank you for your kind words. This was actually a quick project, but, as I mention in the credits for the video, I made it for some teenage students of mine who had never before seen contact, and I believe, really needed to see what it was they were trying to do. Where in the world are you located?

    Happy dancing,

    Liz

  • Beautiful, and instructive. I've encouraged our local jammers to watch this (over and over). Thanks for making it, and posting it. Well done!

  • Magnifique vidéo ! thank you we can see the fluidity of contact without over performing attitudes. The sense of play added to the sense of movement in a delightful mutual listening is there also.

  • Thanks for the video. I've shared it at least 10 times with all kinds of people. A convenient description. It is useful because it is simple and in a studio space comparable to a jam setting, where as a lot of the performance videos online have complex lighting or audience reaction, which is unlikely to have much to do with most peoples experience of CI. peace!

  • Beautiful

  • woow beautiful! look at 5.38

  • In martial arts, esp JuJutsu, we had a similar form, called Randori. Our sensei described it as "cats playing fighting". Sometimes we also had tasks like "one is a wet passive carpet, trying to keep the other from getting up" etc.

  • STOOPS!

  • I love you guys.......
