Who are you to decide that? He didn't "deserve" anything. He has rights just like you and me, and there was no basis for the detainment and arrest, it was an open forum in a public setting, and *gasp* he only resisted when people started violating his rights and assaulting him. It just so happens those people are "police" and therefore they get away with it. But imagine this entire scenario, but if it were just civilians grabbing that guy and manhandling him. its bullshit

Watch the beginning a few more times. The cops just attack him. No warning, no reason. He didn't do anything that was remotely violent to instigate the "arrest" and only after they violated his constitutional rights in the form of an unlawful arrest did he start resisting, which I applaud because if I was in that situation I would have been pissed and i would have fought back for sure. The police can't just make an arrest because they feel like it, and that's essentially what they did here.
