This video doesn't show anything that can't be done just as well in dx9, just a propaganda video.

PS3 doesn't use the direct X api at all, no games console does apart from XBox..
It uses a version of Open GL ES.
Also the api has no effect on rendering, it's the hardware that produces the real end result.
Direct X is simply the software used to program the hardware.
