A short reflection on the last waves of Ethiopian Jewish exile and the return of masses of Ethiopian Jews to Israel, the "Promised land", during the last 30 years. Pay attention to the different aspects of the presentation. Hope, desire, dreams and the harsh reality the Ethiopians meet in modern Israel differ widely from what they had expected to find in the Holy Land. Centuries had passed and, under the influence of the enduring exile in the faraway African land, the Jews of Ethiopia (whose roots go back to the Queen of Saba) had encountered many obstacles and undergone many changes. The more they were enclosed in their own specific world, the wider the gap between them and the rest of the Jewish people in Israel.
The song tells of the massive feelings the exilants experience during and after their arrival in Israel.

music: "Zichronot me Africa", Shlomo Gronich & Sheba Choir
