@STAMKOSxXFTW It keeps him in the net when he slides from one side to the other so fast. If his skate didnt hit the post he would be sliding way out of the crease every time he pushed off from side to side.
went to a korn camp this year he uses the same drills as he teaches the guys in nashville, this is a very difficult timing drill as it is easy to plant your feet before seeing the puck. keeps you on your toes

he is the pro but just wondering why he doesn't get a little higher out of his crease so he doesn't keep kicking the post with his skate

Their hiding the release point, so it becomes a very hard reaction drill. No cheating in this drill, just pure foot speed.
