@boxing1000 Your judgement of Mr Henderson's musical dexterity is founded on a sound principle - he will always be damned good, whatever he plays! Thanks for your good wishes - I shall keep swinging as long as I can breathe, but busy with getting a recently published POD book noticed. Still practice 2 hours a day. Best wishes. Joe S-M.
@boxing1000 Hello, Nice to hear from you; it was just a figure of speech! Looked worse for wear but had a great sound. My Selmer Mk VI tenor looks almost identical now, mine dates back to 1963 or 64. I should imagine Joe's instrument was in much better condition than mine is now, with almost all the gold lacquer stripped. The big difference is that mine is in dire need of a 100% overhaul. As I play 5 reed instruments, overhauls become an expensive luxury. Joe Silmon-Monerri, Manchester, UK.
@wynn52tube Hello again. It wasn't really my band in the clip, but an Irish Trad band with the name 'Guinness' in it. They are all friends, of course; but the man videoing it at Heysham decided to call it by my name. I was flattered, but can't steal the Irish band's thunder! Sadly, the pianist has since died of ME. @wynn52tube . Hi there, Selmer friend. I couldn't agree more; Joe H could 'make it speak'. Mine still playing well but needs BIG overhaul; big sound with superb bell-metal m/piece (Lawton 8*B). This can make all the difference. Geoff Lawton himself measured me up for it. Hear it on YouTube (Joe Silmon & Friends). Can't compare with Master Henderson!!!. My Mk VI (built 1963), bought in 64. Never improved on since; a unique sound! Happy blowing! Joe Silmon-Monerri, Manchester, UK.
@jaasilm1 I had an "older" Selmer 6 in the mid 60's, got damaged on a plane. Bought another one in the early 70's, totally different sound. Loved the old one much better. It had a rich, full sound. But....still again, a master can make anything speak. Joe was a master.

@jaasilm1 the horn isn't battered but merely stripped of lacquer.

@MKIB2Detroit They did have a physical resemblance to each other, especially when McCoy was younger.
