    Your discussion of the distance between mankind and God that is created by the traditional creeds makes it obvious why Christ would condemn them because they take men's hearts away from Him. The core of the creeds is the insistence that the gap between man and God is impossible to cross, even while the New Testament insists over and over again that Christ has bridged that impossible gap, both in His person and in his atonement that allows us to approach the Father.
