------------Update-----------
Hi Everyone. I didn't realize so many people saw this video and commented as I have not logged back in for a couple years! Thank you all for your concern and comments. You will all be happy to know that he made it!

It took several weeks of inducing fever by turning up his environment temp. And also several lukewarm baths. But after about 1 month, he was good as new and eating very well all the way through it. He now has a new home with a family. =)

-----------------------------------Original Post --------------
I bought this snake off www.kingsnake.com and received him this morning. However when I took him out of the packaging he came in, he instantly started wheezing, sneezing, and making strange breathing sounds that makes it sound like he is breathing through mucous.

Earlier when I first put him in his enclosure, he was smearing mucous on the glass. He also kept getting the bedding stuck to his face because he has a wetness coming out from his nose or mouth.

I have also taken pictures of inside his mouth because he tends to keep it open regularly and in those pictures I have found mucous and bubbles which is not normal for a corn snake.

This is my first time dealing with Respiratory Infection. I am trying to get a refund from the breeder I bought him from, however he does not believe that his snake is sick. Just wanted to post this on youtube as proof that today April 08, 2009 when I received him, this is the condition he was in.

  • Well, I ill definately not buy from them now. Its different to accidentaly send a sick snake, but to deny its sick when it obviously is is very irresponsible.

  • That's freaky i think it probably thru up it's food because u might have held it after eating.but the lump I don't know about

  • My corn snake has a strange bump that moves as if it's the heart of the snake beating or something:/ i've noticed this since i got it, and it puked out a mouse a few weeks ago.. gonna try to feed it again, plz response

  • poor snake T-T

  • upper respiratory infection. is it better?

  • if still alive give him a lukewarm bath in a six quart bin and close it shut and wait 20 to 30 minutes

  • so what happened? did he ever get better?

  • @jink122 yup your right.poor little fella

  • Try to make your snake not rub its nose against the enclosure he can bruise the tip and that can lead to infections

  • Poor snake! Did you take him to the reptile vent, to get him check?
