sorry bout the awful quality and the date thing...lets just say my new camera and my comp don't mix =P yea so i had to tape it off the tv

omg i love my bams so so so so muchhh!!! we've been to shepherd ranch so many times, and since it is the easiest show, we went novice this time! however when we got there, they had changed the xc courses for the first time in over 4 years!! it was a lot harder then it used to be, and we were already a little nervous bout going novice in the first place...

Dressage:
Chasing Cars- Snow Patrol
compared to the bn tests, i thought this was challenging. yes yes, i kno the canter transitions were hideous. for the most part i was very happy w/ how the test turned out cept for some geometery errors here and there. however the judge seemed to not like bambino to much as he said either "stiff" or "not enough ground cover" in almost every movement. and like in our downward transition to walk he wrote "obedient" but gave us a 6! and our free walk he wrote "active and stretching downwards" (which is how it is supposed to be) but gave us only a 7! these are decent marks, but idk y they couldn't have been better. anyway, we got a 39.5, which i was thrilled about for our first novice!! we were in 11th!

cross country (in other vid):
you shall see lol
the course was very intimidating and a lot of them looked fairly big to me as i'm used to the little bn logs lol. there were several combinations that i knew would be challenging like the ramp to down bank, diangonal log 4 stride to straight log, water complex, and log 3 stride ditch. when we got out of the start box i knew he was listening and happy to be out running through the fields of xc hehe. i could not of have asked more from him!!! we got through everything clear, even the ditch! (which took tons of growling and screaming xD) i talked to him through the whole course, literally =P lol i think it helps! i didn't want to push him to hard, cuz of him being the age he is, so i aimed closest to the OT as possible. we had 0.8 time penalties, now we were in 7th!!!

Stadium:
Life in Technicolor- Coldplay
he was so tired from xc, but he knew we had another phase to complete! all the jumps were at the jumps ranged from 2'9" to 3'3", a bit intimidating for us... again used to 2'3" to 2'6" lol! i was very pleased w/ our round, he listened to me the whole way through, no run aways xD yea yea that was supposed to be a 3 stride, but after we landed from the oxer, i thought if i pushed for two he would've hit the rail on the vertical, so i decided to hold for 3. double clean!!
we finished in ....
5th!!!!!!!
i love him so much, could not of asked more from him that weekend
kudos to anyone who actually read through the whole thing =P

  • The jump from BN to novice is soo hard. D:

    I give you credit. haha.

The test looked nice. Don't you hate it when you think you have a perfect test and the judge HATES your horse? I had a picture perfect test and I didn't even get a single eight. Just 6's and 7's!

Congrats on placing at your first novice! :D

  • i kno! it is!!! haha thxs

yes!!! this test, not one eight!! i was happy to get all 6s and 7s (and a couple 5s) tho , but they give way to many of those! everyones test looked pretty similar, they need to give a variety of marks i think

    thanks so much =)

  • aww good job!! :) the dressage looked great for your first novice! and the stadium was fabulous! it really didn't look like much of your first novice! :) can't wait to see XC, and i talk to my guy through cross country all the time! like the whole way haha, not like he needs it he wont refuse anything but i think he likes it as a reassurance thing, and congrats finishing 5th!! my last novice event i placed 5th to!! haha

  • aww lol really? thanksss, that means a lot. lol it sure felt a lot harder tho!

haha yea it is like a reassurance thing =) i was all like "ok buddy we were a little slow to that minute marker, gotta pick up the pace, alright good buddy this is better, ditch combo coming up, ho ho steady, jump, ok 1,2,3 grrrrrr geeeeetttt!!!, ahh good boy!!! yay over the ditch! ok we have another combination coming ahead of us..." (lol he has a promblem w/ ditches)

thanksies!! no wayy! congrats to u too!!
