  • Kucinich is an idiot on nuclear power. Nuclear power is the cheapest form of energy even AFTER the huge infrastructure costs and storing the nuclear waste.

If Kucinich becomes president, expect your energy costs to skyrocket.

  • Solar is about $500/MW. Nuclear is $22/MW.

  • Did he really just say that he is the most knowledgeable candidate on energy needs. This guy would not know a nuclear bomb if it blew up on top of him, much less have any idea of what happens in a nuclear power plant or how they operate or the alleged radiation dangers

  • Hey People, Check out Dr. Helen Caldicott. Research the dangers of nuclear energy.

  • And though eliminating 90 percent sounds nice, there's still the problem of a number of factories around the world generating that 10 percent. Adding that up, you've still got a considerable amount of radioactive waste. It also depends on the production of the radioactive material. And again, though reducing it to 300 years is good progress, that's still a good 300 years that the radioactive waste exists. 300 years for it to ravage whatever location it's stored in.

  • Yes but there's still a risk factor that can't be ignored Gamma. I understand that even sources like Hydrogen have a risk factor, but those risk factors don't spread like wild fire and kill countless individuals. Hydrogen explodes, true, but it's not a poison that can potentially spread and kills a lot of people.

  • But if you seperate the actinides from the fission fragments and neutron activated (former) inert material you can eliminate up to 90% of the waste generated and reduce the radioactive lifetime of the waste from several thousand years to around 300. Factor in that the Pu 239 is already a fuel in several reactors and isn't as flexible as U in bombs (Pu can't be used in gun-types) and it seems like a great setup.

  • I was in charge of radiological decontamination at a nuclear plant. It is a dirty industry. Deadly radiation contaminating more and more. It is only because we pack up millions of radioactive tools, clothing items, and parts and bury them in the desert, that plants are able to function. Not to mention all the spent fuel rods sitting in radioactive pools around the country. These are deadly for thousands of years. No one is guaranteeing our safety from this hazard over such a vast time horizon.

  • This guy said he saw a UFO, enough said.

  • No other Presidential candidate, of any party, has the understanding, moral authority and demonstrated principled public record of Dennis Kucinich. When Dennis says he will do something, you can take it to the bank. He is a man of his word. He has the insight and courage to take on the challenges that America faces. He can help us all to create the America where we want to live and raise our children and grandchildren. But he can't do it without your help! Make your vote count!
