Lifeboats, longboats, pilot boats, dragon boats, gigs, wherries, skiffs, Hawaiian outriggers: any sort of "traditional boat" can compete in this race from Richmond through central London to Greenwich, as long as they have four paddles, a cox and a flag of the required size - which adds that Canaletto-ish touch as they arrive at Greenwich.
