  • Another awesome video, cf1970! Coincidentally yet sadly, like the most famous t-bred born in 1970, Annihilate 'Em passed away in 1989. Thanks once again for showcasing classic t-bred racing on YouTube!

  • It's been a pleasure to showcase these fine thoroughbreds. Thank you once again for your kind support, I appreciate it!

  • damn, CF, your videos are awesome. For a dozen years I saved every major race on videotape -- all I had to do was see the future that a Youtube would exist and a CF1970 would post them. Great stuff!

  • Glad you're enjoying them. I appreciate your comments very much.

  • Love Stop The Music. Never seen him before; pretty horse.

  • Yes, he was a terrific looking horse, and lived a very long life, having only just recently passed on in 2005 at the ripe old age of 35.

    Take care.

  • @GBeret83 Secretariat was set to run in the Travers Stakes but was pulled due to illness after losing to Onion in the Whitney. Turcotte rode Annihilate 'Em instead. Secretariat's son General Assembly blasted the field in this race six years later, and still holds the track record.

  • Annihilate 'Em is my horses grandpa on his dads side and secretariat is his great great great grandpa on his moms side. Weird how pedigrees work :P RIP boys :) you will never be forgotten <3

  • I always thought Secretariat should have raced in the Travers Stakes in his 3yr.old season. He ran pretty well at Saratoga anyway. The Travers would've been another nice win on his all-time record if he had raced and won?

  • I was at this race with my family. Saratoga was packed because Secretariat was supposed to run, but scratched the morning of the race. Since Secretariat had a low-grade fever, the connections put Turcotte on him with the Meadow Stables silks and paraded him in front of the grandstand and the place went crazy! Something I will never forget.

  • Annihilate 'Em was ridden to victory in the Travers by Ron Turcotte, who originally planned to ride Triple Crown winner Secretariat in the race. However, Secretariat missed the race due to poor health after losing the Whitney Stakes to Onion two weeks earlier while running with a low-grade fever.[1] Annihilate 'Em and Secretariat met in their only race together in the Marlboro Cup Invitational Handicap in September 1973, where Secretariat finished first and Annihilate 'Em finished fifth.[2]

  • Another awesome Race. We as horse racing fans were treated to some of the best in the '70s. These horses had heart and toughness. We got to witness 3 triple crowns and now we might never get to see it again. I think these fields today are deep with talent. I feel that could be the reason. Any horse can beat any horse any day. Thanks for posting these old races. I can't get enough of them!
