The legend is no more. He passed away yesterday evening. World will miss him for ever.
The song is bridging the two parts of india separated after independence. Ganga and padma, two rivers of the two parts are my mothers. Meghna and yamuna are two streams of my tears. We share same sky and air. We have same feeling in happiness and sorrow, same ecstasy hearing the songs of doel & koel (birds).
The song broken me into tears when I first listened to it.

A genuinely multi-faceted genius Dr. Bhupen Hazarika is lost to us. We will miss you Bhupen'Da. Original music in India will not be quite the same without you. Your music and songs will always resonate in our hearts.

I had a chance to attend his music concert, may be 30 years ago. He has been a poet, journalist, singer, lyricist, musician, filmmaker, writer has a genius for weaving a magical tapestry out of traditional Assamese music and lyrics. He is regarded as one of the greatest cultural communicators.

Bhupen Hazarika passed away in a Mumbai hospital on Saturday. His long-time companion and filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi was beside him when he died
