I would question why judges turn down requests for DNA testing, or allow new trials if additional evidence is found. I think it's all about the #'s. How would it look if they were wrong and sentences overturned too many times?

Yeah, I'm pretty much in Cenk's corner on this. I'm for the death penalty, but of course we seem to be convicting way to many people who turn out to be innocent in hind sight. So, the death penalty really should be applied in a small number of cases.

As to why I think it's okay, I feel that it's not a societies responsibility to expend valuable resources keeping alive a psychopath who can't stop killing, raping, torturing, members of said society. They had their chance and blew it.

Cenk is pretty much my "hero" and I really hate that he thinks like that.

This vengeance business is a terrible way to run a justice system. I can understand how if somebody hurts a loved one how you would want revenge, but on a personal level. You can't have the state taking revenge by torturing people or killing them; it is incredibly barbaric.

To us lib Europeans (except Cenk, it would seem), the USA is still in the dark ages in this respect and I really despise it.

Now how many times do you see a guy like Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, or any of the other conservative pundits, admit that they were wrong about any major issue? Never! The fact that Cenk can admit that he was wrong on something that is as hotly contested as the death penalty speaks to his integrity.
