Only Jesus can show us mercy. Mary even rejoiced in "God my savior". Mary was a humble vessel who gave Jesus His physical body. Jesus never gave us reason to exalt her. None of the epistles give us any reason to raise Mary to the level of an idol.

@HopeforCatholics So what is your point? Are is your point to tear down?

Does anyone know the name of the tune they're using here? I'm looking for sheet music, however informal, so I can learn it.

@HopeforCatholics Did not Paul refer to himself as the Corinthians father in the Gospel? How about when Jesus refered to Abraham as father? Jesus also said call no man teacher: the word doctor comes from the latin docere which means to teach.

My favorite time at the Abbey -- compline. I've been there 9 times, and now, with this video, I can visit again and again. Thank you. "oh clement. . . . oh loving. . . . oh oh sweet virgin Mary."

Mat 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

Romans 6:10 For in that he died, he died unto sin ONCE: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Heb 9:28 So Christ was ONCE offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

What a wonderful peaceful place to visit. There are about 1000 acres of woods and fields to hike and a lovely walk to a statuary garden. The first time I saw it I was completely blown away. There is a statue of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemani so wrenching it broke my heart and I had to lay my hand on His shoulder to tell him it was going to be ok.
It has nothing at all to do with making her an idol. Mary was the first to say "yes" to Jesus. In Christ's first miracle her instructions were to "do whatever he tells you" which is good advice for us all. The Mother of Christ has always led to her Son and always will. Some wish to attack the respect and devotion shown to the person who accepted bringing Christ to the world for all of us. To do so is misguided and fruitless. Where does the Blessed Virgin always lead us to? Her son Jesus Christ.
