Steiner dropped by to say hello to us at NRA 09 and brought by their newest pair of military-grade binoculars - the 10x42 R Tactical. They've made them more durable, but the range-finding reticle it features is totally brill. And since Steiner is the largest manufacturer of military and law enforcement binoculars, you know you're getting the best. They also brought over a couple of hunting models that use different technologies to make the game pop-out from the background.

  • Have a low end 8x and the "rubber wrap" started coming off within a couple years!

Sorry, when I pay top dollar, I expect, them to stay together!

  • Steiner are sh!t...honestly. Over rated, over advertised bino's. I've a pair called Docter - German too, but totally better optics and very much under rated.

  • When optics geeks turn gay on each other...

Seriously, I own some Steiner 10x50s and for the money you can't beat them. If you want a Zeiss or Leica, you need to sell a kidney. Even Swarovski are outrageously priced (but they're awesome glasses).

Price-to-product ration: Steiner is the clear winner. They make a superb product and you don't have to mortgage the house to get some.

  • The Steiner 8x30 Wildlife Pro CFs look interesting. I like the added centre focus. Nice touch!
