My implementation of techniques described by Craig Reynolds in his paper "Steering Behaviors for Autonomous Characters" and boids. http://www.red3d.com/cwr/steer/

I need to replace the placeholder spheres with animated bird models. I plan to add a few more behaviors, such as landing.

Done in XNA / C#.

  • Hey do you have source code? I am working on something similar but am having trouble with 1. Wandering and 2. Calculating the rotations in 3D. (2D is easy!). I've tried all sorts of things including quaternions, but nothing looks right

Yes, it's part of a larger program. It looks like this was written almost 2 years ago so don't expect the code to be super nice, but try searching for "envsim xna" and it should come up at the top.

    Cheers

  • i got a cracked fraps version! and omg is this made in only C# with xna framset? what do you need to make such models?

  • Yep, just C#/XNA. The world is not a model. The flocking stuff here is part of a larger project to create a 3D environment with the sky, terrain, water, etc.
