K4 Pacific has played in my head since I first bought the album some time in the 70s's. Stand next to a locomotive negotiating a S curve and you feel the same energy as was captured in this piece.
This is Mulligan's masterpiece-I've just got off a train through snowy Britain-the Age of Steam was my internal soundtrack.40 years next year this album-still fresh and vigorous. Thanks Gerry.
this man is an inspiration to me.the impact of this jazz legend is enormous, the improvisation, the way he creates a chilled and complex feel and mood, the talent of the various ensembles and groups of artists, man while he holds true to the traditional, he often paves the way into future directions, thanks for the upload...
The Carnegie Hall edition is different, but does feature Chet. Age of Steam was a classic group (Roger Kellaway on piano, Tom Scott, Bob Brookmeyer, Sweets Edison, Bud Shank, Howard Roberts) and this is a terrific album. I've got it on vinyl. Back when A&M records actually had a jazz department.
awesome stuff right here
