BIlly Joel lost a brother in VN, during the fight for Khe Sanh. I was there. When he started singing this song at concerts, he'd have his guys go through the crowd and invite the Vietnam Vets to come up and sing the chorus. I was one of them. The faces of 'Charlie' & 'Baker', even though it's NOT actually them singing, will remain in my memory for every breath I take.

Just saying, because it looks like nobody knows this in the comments, North Vietnam was communist and their Allie is China because of communism and the US didn't want it to spread and also that France "ruled" South Vietnam and France is our Allie.
