Beautiful. Makes me so so happy.

@jameycruz2 That's Carol Kaye on bass. James only recorded in Detroit. This song was recorded in Los Angeles in 1967.

Oh My Goodness! Brenda Holloway is a Member of my church. We get to hear her almost every Sunday! I don't think the young folk are aware of the Gem in their midst!

I love the Alton Ellis cover too :) Brenda Holloway is so amazing would love to see her live.

@AprilStevensSunny Yes, it's a year later but you are right on the money. NO ONE could compare to her vocal delivery of this song that's not only well-performed but her own baby as well. Imagine co-writing and delivering with such beauty. This song goes down in my mind as one of the best to be heard.

..I think I may have found a new favorite singer. Her voice is BEAUTIFUL. Why am I just now hearing about this woman? Berry Gordy got some 'splainin' 2 do!!!

Best version of this song

@icecreamladydream That's James on bass. I know his style.
This song BELONGS to Brenda Holloway. She co-wrote it and no one has ever sung it with the depth and feeling that she had. A brilliant recording that Berry Gordy failed to promote fully.
