I'm working on building a robot that can play a flawless game of Pong on the Atari 2600's Video Olympics cartridge. The video from the Atari is run through a processor using OpenCV, which then predicts where the ball is likely to go, and, using that information, tells a Lego Mindstorms robot to rotate the paddle left or right. For this project, I'm using an actual 2600 and unmodified paddle.
You can see by how poorly it plays (It's the green paddle) that this is still a work in progress. The prediction of the trajectory of the ball is sometimes off and sometimes the robot does not respond to the commands fast enough.
You can find out more about the project here: http://www.mathpirate.net/log/atari-robot/
Unusual project ;D Great, and keep working.
