The people who are upset about nanobots being in Halo 4 are the same people who will be crushed when the Master Chief takes off his helmet and he's NOT Jesus Christ.

Why bother with the nanobots explanation at all? It's clearly just an artistic choice, hence why Spartans in the flashbacks look the same as Chief anyway.

'We redesigned it because we could' is MUCH better than 'SCIENCE'.

I think that the Halo universe technology is behind it's time. ME and Deus Ex HR though I could see as being the actual future.

The "nanobots" explanation is given brief mention in Halo: Glasslands, in regards to the MJOLNIR Mk VII worn by Naomi-010. Other than that, though, it's not given much attention at all.

I agree with you. It definitely should at least have been touched on in-game in a more plausible way, but instead we're made to simply accept it. They even retcon SPARTAN-II footage to show the modified Mk V and Mk VI. Very lazy, if you ask me.

I love the game, but that was a point of concern for me story-wise.

No, the people who are upset about nanobots are the people who have been following the canon of the franchise for a decade, and know the ins and outs of what is and is not feasible for a particular faction or individual to do.

Frankie could have handwaved it in a way that was consistent with the existing canon, but he chose to word it in a way that does not.

That shows apathy, ignorance, or purposefully trying to retcon things.

Apparently the Forward Unto Dawn had some of the prototype nanobots on board and Cortana during the 4 years stuck alone on the aft half of the ship made some changes to John's armor.
