The organ is Dobson Opus 75 at Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles. This is the Prelude part of Maurice Durufle- Prelude et Fugue sur le nom d'Alain; opus 7
Who is the performer and teacher? The performer, teacher, and music are important. People are so hung up on religion, and try to inflict it upon Alain's music. Meanwhile, he wrote a piano piece about Japanese gods, and an organ piece about a Hindu god. The joke is on the "believers." LOL
OK let me try again. I would certainly say this to a German organist. My comment has nothing to do with politics; this is your own knee-jerk response. It has to do with the value of talent. This piece was inspired by the sacrifice of his life and talents made by Jehan Alain in 1940, the most promising young organist of his generation. I find it quite moving and very appropriate that it should be played by this talented youngster two generations later.
auchraw, is that something you'd say to a German organist, say someone like Felix Hell? We all need to make sure that this doesn't become some forum for politics and such. Strictly we like to comment on the wonderful music that is found on this venue. Pianorgano is a rare talent, with technique and skill beyond most organists much older and more experienced.
