I built this in 2002 to test those EYE tubes, those green glow tuning indicator tubes you find in some antique radios.
You can't just plug an eye tube in a tube tester and if the tester shows "good" that does NOT mean that it IS good.
The tube tester can't apply the plate/target with the 150-165 volts needed to light up the target phosper green.
Check out my video and I will explain why and show you how to make your own "Eye" tester.

Hi McKayman, I miss having my shop, yes I agree, build one of those and show the young folks how much fun we had in electronics was back in our day.

Thanks for all the great ideas, I have a question about the schematic, the 50MFD cap from the 6.3V section is connected with the positive to the ground were the other 22MFD cap from the 165V section is connected with the negative to ground. It this so that the 50MFD cap will provide (-)B to pin 3 of the socket? Can you please confirm? Thanks again, Sorin

@SorinG2010 It has been 10 years since I wrote that schematic, I beleive that is correct, the NEG bias for the grid of the eye tube.
I just looked at the schematic, YES that is why the elactrolytic is positive to ground so you can bias the grid to open and close the "eye" when testing tube.
