Janelle Monae on new album, The ArchAndroid

I feel that creating this world in which android are stereotyped is drawing more of a parallel to that people, in general, are stereotyped, not just black people.

I think she's using a character like Cindi Mayweather to draw on that people who are discriminated against, for whatever reason, feel like their humanity is devalued as a result. If so, then it's a very intelligent way of communicating something deep through popular culture and I applaud her for it.

@aky19832001 I think she will change after Suite IV who will close Cindi M saga...if you see in fact before the saga begin she had a totally different look...and who cares about sexuality? Sources say she's not lesbian but I see an old interview and she was saying she has a lot of gay friends and she supports them...

@Rozyonnie I could care less. I've been in the industry for a while now. " This character she created will be too hard for her to maintain in the long run. Her sexual orientation remaining anonymous is a smart move, leaving her open to both sexes, as long as she is not linked up to any males or females publicly than she is going to be ok. I don't think this is her true personality she rehearsed her back ground story many times, so much so that she repeats same manersims while explaining.
