@docdoom187 doc, you can't be serious,mic skills and his look are 2/3 of the gig,he was a decent wrestler,but the face of your association?I think not!This isn't a Meatloaf song,here 2 out of 3 is bad!

@TheJukeboxjim The only things going against Backlund were his lack of mic skills and plain look. That's it. Other than that the man could wrestle his fucking ass off whether it was like collegiate/mat wrestling or being able to work like hell in a pro wrestling ring and do his moves just right each and every time, sell for the opponent, or go for a whole hour. Lots of guys have the "look" but can't work 1/4 as good as many of the old school guys. It's all about talking and looks.

@yimpka being a dickhead was the whole point of his gimmick! lol

@Sener Howdy Doody! LOL

He looks like an insane living doll.

@SidJustice1 A genius indeed.
Okay, for all of you ignorant kids that think Backlund is either insane, taking drugs, or hit the coffee too hard before this video, there's this thing called "Kayfabe".
Basically, a wrestler would stay "in character" even when outside of the ring to protect his character and the secrecy of the business.
Ex: The Original Sheik would hang up on people who called his house asking for Edward (his real name).
May sound weird, but it's not. Just a little old-school. And it still gets over, no?

To those of you unable to see him circa 1980-81 he was damn near as good as Kurt Angle in the ring. Just not a lot of charisma. This is one of the last of the 'hookers'...
