  • Hi Rod...I've watched your video many times. Like you I started out at WEHH and as a kid used to hang out at WSYE-TV which was reached after a long hike uphill from west Elmira. I've been in radio and TV since 1973 and have spent the last 20 years at KTLA-TV in Hollywood. I remember the Hawley Hill studios and the GE transmitter as well as the old GE black and white cameras and your first TK-42 color camera. Man I'm old...I watched Neil Armstrong walk on the moon courtesty of channel 18!

  • @liveccam Hi,

Thanks for your comments on the WSYE-WETM slide show.

I lived in Elmira Heights in the 50s and 60s and I too walked

the many miles up over the hills to Hawley Hill. What a wonderful

time to grow up. Glad you have had a successful career in broadcasting. I am on facebook if you would like to friend me there that would be cool. my email address is rdensonsr@netscape.net. would love to here more about your life after Chemung County!

  • WOW THIS IS AWESOME! HOW DID YOU GET SUCH A COOL JOB? ARE YOU HIRING? THAT WOULD BE AWESOME, I THINK I WOULD FIT IN WELL AND I COULD PROBABLY LEARN HOW TO USE ALL THAT STUFF REAL EASY. I HAVE EXP IN IMOVIE AND MOVIE MAKER PRO.

    LOVED THE VIDEO, EMAIL ME

  • Great video Rod. I remember all you guys from the WSYE era, and visiting the station in the mid sixties, meeting Phil in the old OLD switching area when there was just a film island. I remember "The End of the River" and "Red Letter Day" when the TK42 arrived. I used to work at TV36 in the 70s, and I would visit my old friend Mark Polovic when I came up to kick our transmitter (often). I often wonder what's left in that old building, apart from memories. Any idea what Larry Taylor is up to?

  • Interesting to watch, thanks for producing/posting it. Every station should have one of those retrospectives of its past and its people. (Also interesting to see a young Rebecca Johnson, who is now Rebecca LeClair, a mom several times over, and morning/noon anchor at NBC affiliate WHEC-TV Channel 10 here in Rochester.)

  • @TommLooney

Thanks for watching Tomm! Sorry I didn't get to meet you when you lived here. Congratulations on your successful career. It was good to hear your comments.

    My Best Wishes,'

    Rod

  • Rod ... Tomm Looney. I work at Fox Sports in LA. Image voice for FOX Sports Net for years, and anchor and host at FOX Sports Radio. Grew up watching Bruce, Carl and you on TV. Enjoyed this so much. I remember Tom Colson too, who did sports. Thanks for putting this together for those of us TV and radio geeks to took active interest in who was on TV and radio.
