Despite having my Sorel snow boots on my toes still froze while flying around in 30 degree air. These are some of the pictures of that flight. Still having some problems with the video portion of my camera (too shaky) but thought I would show some photos instead.

  • I added heated socks to my bundle and now my feet stay warm however I still get some wind into my helmet so now I need to plug that area and I will be toasty warm! (or at least not a frozen popsicle!).

  • Ah, well that is how I cheated...I actually have some Gerbing electrically heated motorcycle gloves. I don't think I could stay out that long without them. But I may need to get the heated socks next!

  • I went up from Sunriver Oregon in December when it was 36 at the runway (el 4200). My 45 minutes south with the wind wasn't too bad at 5800 feet but the 1 hr return flight was terrible. Even with all my gear I could barely talk on the radio as my face was frozen. I'm waiting for the 45 degree days.. heh.

  • Hope you had some gloves on also? It looks so cold?
