Consistent with Community Covenant Church´s (www.CommunityCovenant.org) commitment of Changed Lives On Purpose, we were blessed to be allowed to participate in the post-earthquake relief efforts. After the quakes, many people left the larger cities and went into the countryside.
We connected with a wonderful group of people from Go-Ministries (www.Go-Minestries.org), that needed to move a lot of freight into Haiti, post-earthquake. Among other gifts, logistics is one of their giftings. In short order, they have assembled a MAJOR operation in Santiago DR and are able to get aid where it is needed - not just into the "pile" at Port-au-Prince, but into the HANDS of people that can get it where it can be put to good use right NOW. Some of the other pilots that I've had the privlage to serve with here have been blazing new landing strips on the streets of Port-au-Prince - darn near the center of the wreakage. As a small business owner (of Brahmin.com) who has run manufacturing floors all of my life, I can attest to the effective use of funds to make a difference in Haiti. I would recommend Go-Ministries to my friends who want to contribute to the relief effort.
Port-de-Paix is not accessable with larger aircraft - so it was up to smaller aircraft capable of going into smaller, unimproved strips.
Half of the already short runway is unusable (lots of large pot holes and areas of water).
We had landed ahead of our friends that we met down here, so we got to video their landing. They were carrying over 2,000 lbs of Pasta, Corn, Tomato Paste, and water.
It is 6am on Friday morning, and we have several aircraft all loaded up waiting for sunrise to start flying again.

THE DUTCH58WS: Relax, my husband's the guy I said could kill that landing. He flies a PC-12 and it was all in fun. As it turns out he has done about 6 or 7 landings on this strip since Tuesday. Chill out, it was just a joke. Obviously the video we saw was a perfect landing - it speaks for itself. But yes, my husband can nail that landing as well; he is an awesome pilot!

That was an ok landing... Now there's a guy in Haiti flying a Pilatus who's tail # ends with FG. He can KILL that landing!! If you see him, (He'll be with a BIG, SCARY looking guy), he can show your pilot how to REALLY nail that landing. He's been there since the 25th. Good Luck!! (If you see him tell him Darren says Hello!)
