@Lukejcarter That's not the chord progression to Cripple Creek at all.
A part: G | C G | G | D G, repeat
B part: G | G | G | D G, repeat

Tony is an absolute master. His "Territory" album blew me away.

-
i know him and his kids. i kinda think his son is hot. :-)
-
hahaha i know him
-
the progression of the song is actually G C G D and repeat. hes right tho, its a good song to start learning when you first pick up a banjo. He added a little flare to it, sounds nice.

Looks and sounds like open G.

does anyone know what chord hes holding when he does that first full strum

First real full bluegrass song everyone learns, and
no other song is so useful for improvisation. You
can slip the first 8 measures into any song, and they
work perfectly.
