This is basically a drivers race. If you look at the stats u will see that both of these cars are very very close in performance. The same with the Eldorado and Mark 8. If the caddy lost that bad then either it needs a major tune up or a new driver. and trust me, the extra 25 hp and torque does matter. with a very good driver in the seat of an STS, you wont win by 3 car lengths. maybe a half a car length but not 3. If you win at all that is.

@svg571 they are both 4.6 litre double overhead cam engines with around the same horsepower. They are both great engines but the northstars sometimes have headgasket leaks when too much oil is put into the engine however i have seen both with over 300,000 km on them. Any mechanic will tell you the mark viii engine is one of the best engines ever made because its ultra reliable and easy to fix most things with it.

hey its funny when you said that the cadillac sts is faster than the lincoln mkviii. i have a 98 lincoln mark viii lsc that raced a 2003 cadillac sts and beat it to the dust. cadillac's is a grandma's car. all mark series are more better looking than all cadillac.

now the sts will take in the 15 sec range for 1/4 mille and the mark will do it in the same 15 sec range so all u morrons trowings numbers go get ur ass in a car and try again.

I think that a 4.9 sls anyway...I race a lincoln mark 6 or 7 with the 5.0 engine and beat him 5 times out of 7 in my concours deville he beat me cause i give him 1 and the break i was comming back,but the curve came up,we was on the back road lol

They didn't make a 4.9 SLS in the year 2000. Its the northstar engine. Mark VIII is completely different animal then the Mark VII (7) with the 5.0 that you raced.
